Autumn Leaves are falling...

Here in my little forested part of Oregon the big leaf maples are dropping their beautifully colored leaves. I had a lovely Lion Brand Hometown USA mustard colorway in my stash, and couldn't wait for a design to come to mind for it. The falling autumn leaves started falling, and I knew just what I was going to make. This pattern works up quickly and with ease.

I hope you enjoy making it! Crochet Love, Lisa

Materials Used:

Lion Brand Hometown USA in Madison Mustard (bulky) Yardage: 128 yds (two skeins)

10.00 mm Tunisian hook

Yarn needle for weaving in ends, and sewing button

Accent button 1.5”-2.0” in diameter

Stitches Used:

Forward pass: Stitches are picked up, and carried on hook to the end of the row.

Return pass: The return pass generally starts with a single chain, and loops are dropped off the hook one at a time. Yarn over, and pull through chain loop and next stitch.

Tunisian Simple Stich (TSS): Insert hook into vertical bar of previous row, and bring up a loop. Continue for required number of stitches of forward pass, carrying the loops on the hook.

Chain (CH)

Notes:

This is a very easy stitch repeat pattern. A Tunisian hook is not necessary, but the length of a Tunisian hook will give you more room to carry your stitches. The pattern uses almost exactly two full skeins of Hometown USA. If you meet gauge, you’ll have just enough yarn left over to sew on the button.

Gauge:

8 Rows and 9 stitches = 4”

End Measurements:

12” wide X 28” long

Instructions:

Foundation row 1: CH 24, and working down the back bump of the chain, pick up 23 loops. Chain 1, make return pass. (24)

Row’s 2-49: TSS in 24 stitches across row to end. CH 1, make return pass.

Row 50: TSS in 24 stitches across row to end. CH 1, make return pass in the next 23 stitches, CH 3, make one more return pass ST. (23 stitches, chain of 3, 1 stitch). Button hole made.

Row 51: TSS in 1st stitch, pick up a loop in the next two chain stitches, TSS in next 22 stitches. CH 1, make return pass. (26)

Final row: SL ST in each vertical bar across row. (26) Pull yarn through, and weave in all ends.

Add button to the other end of scarf, along the same edge of the button hole, and weave in ends.
