I love cooking in addition to crochet. I really love using cast iron, too. The handles can get very hot, though! I tend to forget about that whilst cooking away, and have been known to grab a hot handle.
One day, I was browsing a cast iron group online and saw that a member had sewn little sleeves for her pan handles. I thought it would be simple to crochet up a version.
So, here they are! This pattern couldn't be simpler. It uses very little yarn (which makes it a great stash buster), and works like a dream! I prefer cotton, so that I can wash them easily and continue to use them.
Panhandlers
Materials used
4.0mm hook
Worsted weight cotton yarn such as Sugar and Cream (about ½ an ounce)
Finished measurements: approx. 2” wide, and 5” in length
Instructions: Ch2, sc 6 times in second chain from hook, do not join (work in continuous round). Place Stitch marker here, and at the beginning of each new round.
Rnd 2 sc2 times in each st around. (12)
Rnd 3 * sc 1 in next 2 sts, sc 2 in next st. Repeat from * to end of round. (16)
Rnd 4 Sc in each st around. (16) This is a good spot to pull the beginning piece of yarn tight, and knot end.
Continue round 4 until panhandler measures 5” in length.
Last Rnd sl st 16 times, cut yarn, and weave in ends.
